Steps to Obtain Your Alabama Electrical Contractor (Restricted) License

Step 1

Submit Your Application

Apply to the AECB and select the Restricted classification. Forms: AECB Forms.

Step 2

Register for Exams

After approval, schedule with Prov: provexam.com/schedule.

Step 3

Purchase References

Use approved open-book references per the AECB/Prov CIB.

Step 4

Take the Exam

Computer-based, open-book; 75% to pass. Eligibility valid 90 days.

Electrical Contractor (Restricted) — Requirements & Application

• Restricted scope as defined by AECB; statewide licensing still required.
• Pass the Restricted trade exam and (when required) the Business & Law exam.
• Open-book rules apply; see AECB policies and Admin. Code 303-X-2-.01.
