Tennessee Contractor Licenses

Tennessee has a variety of builder licenses, classified by scope, such as residential (BC-A), small commercial (BC-b), commercial (BC-B), and industrial (BC-C). In Tennessee, a builder license is required for any job over $25,000.

Tennessee BC-A Residential Contractor

The BC-A Residential license permits ground-up residential construction, as well as residential remodeling.

Exams Required: Tennessee BC-A trades exam and Tennessee Business Law exam.

The BC-Ab license allows residential construction and small commercial projects up to $1,500,000.

Tennessee BC-B Commercial Contractor

The BC-B Commercial license allows for large commercial construction of any size. Candidates can choose between the NASCLA or Tennessee BC-B trades exam.
