Tennessee BC-B Commercial Contractor Exam Requirements & Application
* A license is required when the total cost or contract amount is $25,000 or more.
Monetary limits for each license as follows:
* 10 times working capital OR 10 times net worth – whichever is LESS
* If the requested monetary limit is $3,000,000 or less, a reviewed financial statement is required.
* If the requested monetary limit is greater than $3,000,000 an audited financial statement is required.
* A license is not granted solely on meeting one requirement. All requirements must be met (exams, financials, experience, etc) and all information submitted is considered

If you choose to take the NASCLA exam instead of the Tennessee "B" Commercial exam the NASCLA serves as your trades exam in North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Arkansas, Utah, Virginia, Oregon, Vriginia, Nevada, West Virginia and the U.S. Virgin Islands
Tennessee BC-B Commercial Contractor Permitted Work
A commercial building contractor is authorized to bid on and contract for the construction, erection, alteration, repair or demolition of any building or structure for use and occupancy by the general public, including residential construction with more than four (4) units or greater than three (3) stories in height.
In addition, the commercial building contractor may perform any of the 34 building subcategories for "commercial".
