Utah General Contractor License

Utah has multiple different types of general contractor licenses. Utah does not require any trades exam to get their license, and may not even require the business law exam.

The only two applicable exams to Utah are:

NASCLA Commercial Trades exam – This exam can only help if you do not have sufficient experience. If you have at least two years of construction experience or a Construction Management Degree (2 or 4 year degree), you do not need to take this.
Utah Business & Law exam – If you have at least 1 year of LICENSED experience working in another state, you do not need to take this.

Utah General Contractor (NASCLA)

In Utah, this exam is only used to bypass the 2 year experience requirement. It can be used to bypass the experience requirement for any of the Utah GC licenses.

Utah Business & Law

This exam is required for all contractor's licenses. If the applicant has at least 1 year of LICENSED experience in another state, this exam is not required. The Utah Business & Law exam is a short 2-hour exam covering information in only 1 book.
