Oklahoma Residential Electrical License Overview

The Oklahoma Residential Electrical license is issued by the Oklahoma Construction Industries Board (CIB) and authorizes contractors to perform electrical work on residential structures — single-family homes, duplexes, and similar dwellings. It is a separate license track from the Limited and Unlimited electrical contractor licenses, specifically scoped to residential work.

If your focus is residential electrical contracting — new home construction wiring, panel upgrades, service installations, and home rewiring — this is your required credential in Oklahoma. Contractors who want to work on commercial or industrial projects will need to pursue the Limited or Unlimited electrical contractor license instead.
