    Tennessee BC-A Residential Contractor Requirements & Application

    * A Tennessee contractor's license is required when the total cost or contract amount is $25,000 or more.

    Monetary limits: 10 times working capital or 10 times net worth – whichever is LESS.

    * If the requested limit is $3,000,000 or less, a reviewed financial statement is required.

    * For limits greater than $3,000,000, an audited financial statement is required.

    * All requirements must be met, including exams, financials, experience, and other submissions.

    Tennessee has reciprocity for the BC-A license with Alabama, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, and North Carolina.

    Tennessee BC-A Residential Contractor Permitted Work

    Allows construction, remodeling, repair, or improvement of one-to-four family residences, not exceeding three stories in height. Contractors may bid on any residential building subcategories within the license scope.
