    Requirements:

    • Requires 4 years of experience.
    • A New Mexico contractor license is required for construction-related contracting.
    • Passing the New Mexico Business and Law exam is also required.
    • Pre-Approval is required (7 business days on average).
    • New Mexico issues licenses across approximately 100 classifications.

    New Mexico GB-98 Commercial Contractor Reciprocity

    New Mexico does not offer reciprocity with any other states. The NASCLA Commercial Trades exam can be used if you are licensed in another state.

    New Mexico GB-98 Commercial Contractor Permitted Work

    This license allows for the construction or remodeling of residential and commercial buildings, except structures covered by EE, GA, GF, or MM classifications. Includes all work described by the GB-2 and GS specialty classifications.
